Playground!!!

Hi Everyone,

On November 11th, I took the boys to the Park. It was so nice. I know we won't be able to go to the Park much longer, so I try to squeak out as many visits as I can. Both boys have so much fun at the playground. I am glad they love the outdoors. We have fun just being outside at home too. The only problem I have, Jacob runs away. Nicholas really didn't do that. I have to be extra careful with Mr. Jacob. After the playground trip, it went back to the 40's.

Everyone is doing good. It was Jacob's turn to get the cold. He has a pretty good one. His poor little nose is so crusty. He has an 18 month appointment on Tuesday. Hopefully, it will be uneventful. Chris is taking him.
The PT therapist changed her mind, which is OK. She said that Jacob really isn't ready for once a month visits. Doing further observation, Jacob isn't ready. He will still go once a week. He has to wear the Spio at home and not at therapy. I put it on him this morning, and walking around like a drunken sailor :) I don't realize how important that Spio is, until he has it on.

Nicholas is fine. We have our first pre-K conference on Tuesday. I am pretty sure we will get a good report. I don't think he has social issues anymore. I know he needs to work on letter (writing them) and cutting. He knows his alphabet and even showing some early reading skills. He also loves to count. I can't wait for the scholarships to roll in ;)

Chris has done very well with the boys. He has gone to the doctors office with both boys - two times! He came home and said they both did very well. I am very proud of the boys for being on their best behavior Nicholas can be so iffy sometimes.

I am .leaving for a couple of days to visit my brother and sister in law. I am excited to get a break, but will miss my boys so much. I have never been away from Jacob before. I think it will be good for Jacob and I, since he so attached to me. Baba and Chris will take good care of them!

Have a good week and Happy Thanksgiving!! :) Mandy

Soccer - 1st year

Hi Everyone,

I finally remembered to put up the Soccer pictures! We had so many other things going on, I wanted to get those posted first. Now, all the Fall events have ended. We are having some nice weather this weekend. We are planning on a trip to the playground. I was informed though, that the playground will happen on Sunday, on my second day off.

Soccer was a success! I think Nicholas really enjoyed Soccer. There is a Spring League and we may sign Nicholas up for that league. The running is good for Nicholas. Jacob wasn't the best fan. He had a very hard time sitting in his stroller and wanted to either join the game or go exploring. It was a nice way to spend a Saturday morning. We had our ups and downs with Nicholas, but I think next year - he will be much better and really enjoy the game even more.

We had a pretty quiet week, which is fine with me. Nicholas went to Giant Eagle on a Field Trip. Chris went with him. We were told this past Tuesday that Jacob is doing really well in PT, that she wants to see him once a month. I was a little nervous at first, but then she sat down with me and explained everything to me. Help me Grow came on Thursday. We had to make new goals. Jacob's goals will be Speech and his Sensory disorder. The sensory disorder is more for me and how I can cope when he has those moments. Now that the weather is getting colder, the disorder gets a little more active.

Nicholas has a sinus infection. They made stone soup on Thursday and he said he had fun. He is the working kid this Tuesday. He is always excited for that day!

Have a good week! Mandy

Happy Halloween!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the picture overload! The funny part - When we were carving the pumpkins, I wasn't going to take pictures, because I thought it would be a big mess. I am glad I changed my mind, because they were so cute!
Last Saturday, I decided to carve the pumpkins - inside. I always feel like I should do them outside,  but the weather was not good. It actually was better to do it inside, because Jacob was more confined. If we did it outside, I would be chasing him around all over the place. Carving the pumpkin was fun! Jacob got into it. I wasn't sure, since it was slimy and gooey, but he did OK. He didn't go crazy with the goo, like his brother but he was interested. I think because the weather has been changing, Jacob's sensory disorder is a little more active right now. I won't put on his Halloween costume unless I have to. I love when they model, but Jacob is so iffy about being touched, that I saved it for Boo at the Zoo or Trick or Treating. There are a few nights, that not even a bath will calm him. He does not want me to touch him. His eating habits are going a little backwards too. He won't eat solid foods like chicken nuggets or hamburgers, mostly meat again. I am still learning how to handle his ways and needs. We just keep plugging along, and continue to pray that therapy helps.
Boo at the Zoo part 2 was fun. It was at the Akron Zoo. It was cold, and rainy. I was crazy for taking them. We have never been to this one. Nicholas loved it and so did Jacob. No one was there - which made it pretty nice. We will go back next year. Nicholas of course has been coughing all week and has been pretty hoarse, but only at night. The coughing is all day, and I make him spit. I think a doctor's visit will be soon. I was a little nervous. A boy came to preschool sick (the stomach kind) and I was afraid Nicholas was going to get it, but we are OK so far. I think I have had my fair share in the puke department with Mr. Nicholas :)

I hope everyone has a good week! Don't forget to vote :) Mandy
